Detox diets are dietary plans regarded as having detoxifying effects. Scientists, dietitians, and doctors, while generally judging 'detox diets' harmless (unless nutritional deficiency results).

"Detox" diets usually suggest that water, or fruits and vegetables compose a majority of one's food intake.

Methods to modify the diet for the purpose of detoxification include:

• Eliminating foods such as caffeine, alcohol, processed food (including any bread), pre-made or canned food, salt, sugar, wheat, red meat, pork, fried and deep fried food, yellow cheese, cream, butter and margarine, shortening, etc., while focusing on pure foods such as raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, raw nuts and seeds, fish, vegetable oils, herbs and herbal teas, water, etc.

• Fasting, including water fasting and juice fasting

• Special teas used in combination with another detox method. Most detox teas contain ginger, milk thistle, licorice, rooibos, black pepper and dandelion, ingredients known in folk medicine as digestive aids.

• Some proponents of detox diets emphasize it as a lifestyle rather than a diet,

• Others have touted spiritual and psychological benefits of regular detox dieting.[16

The Lemon Detox diet aimed to cleanse your liver in order to make you feel fresh, replenished and energetic for the day. Mix the juice of half a lemon and some cayenne pepper, and drink up to nine glasses of this concoction a day, with fruit and veg for extras.

The Ultimate Detox This near-fast allows only 200 calories a day, made up of juices, broths and herbal tea. Combined with Nordic walking and yoga, it promises the loss of up to 17lb in 10 days.

The Cabbage Soup Diet Seven days of cabbage soup, fruit, vegetables, soup, eight bananas, soup, beef and soup. Although not suitable for long-term weight loss, the Cabbage Soup Diet is a low-fat, high-fiber diet that will help you get into shape fast before you embark on a more moderate long-term eating plan.

The Grapefruit Diet. The grapefruit is a marvelous fruit - a natural simple carbohydrate high in fiber and vitamin C. You eat half a grapefruit with every low-carb meal, in the hope the fruit’s juice will burn fat. Remember but to use it as the sole foundation of a weight loss program is unwise.

The Flinders Medical Centre Diet . Two weeks of lean, unfried meat, club soda, eggs and vegetables, with no fat and just a tiny bit of bread or fruit, to send the body into fat-melting ketosis.

Bottomline we need a healthy lifestyle and needs to exercise regularly to attain the figure we dreamt of or maintain what we have....
